OBJECTIVE

To design and implement a logo and visual identity system for a conference. To understand and demonstrate the research and creative process of developing a logo and complex information system.

CONFERENCE TOPIC

A conference that pursues the mission to integrate sustainable design in everyday experiences, considering ways to improve our environmental impact and seek to understand the possibilities and push limitations for a world that normalizes change now, and now later. Using an optimistic and passionate conference that activates change for innovators, product designers, engineers and fellow students now. To create a positive impact–not in a ‘doom’ fashion–on industrial designers, innovators, engineers and those interested in the field and create possibilities for them to engage with their preconceived notions of ideation, materials, manufacturing, and production.

OUTCOME

This project offers a standardization in the process of creating a brand, beginning with the iconography of logo design and entrusting the logotype in the application of digital media. My process began with further research of my conference, as I aim to champion the values of bridging the skills of industrial and visual communication design, I aimed to capture the concept of 'industrial design' through the visual and digital space. The fibonacci sequence, or the golden ratio, creates the form while the principles of 'Bauhaus' (or one of the most impactful industrial design movements) incorporates the usage of the primary colours.  I have learned the importance of logo design as it creates the brand and effectively visual identity and application.

When applying the logo design to the interactive aspects of the conference, it changed my initial perspective of the entire project. Typically, when thinking of the design process, we think of things aesthetically. However, using the skills learned from the previous project, the application of size, logo heavy, type heavy effectively created the aspects of the application.
